In 1947, the National Park Service purchased the site, and many of the original structures can still be seen. This sinkhole is actually a collapsed underground limestone cavern. Over one million gallons of water flow through it each day, leaving behind a lush oasis surrounded by desert grassland.

He spent time there growing up and wanted other people to experience the same enjoyment he did while at the orchard. That led to the creation of Slide Rock State Park. Today, people can explore the orchard, wander down the trails, or sit a while and view the wildlife. This beautiful park is a great way to relax and recharge while visiting Sedona before returning to everyday life and all that comes with it.
